Project Overview

Wulkuraka Water and Sewer Relocations Design

Detailed design of 120m x 660OD MSCL water main and 95m x 450PE gravity sewer under the Wulkuraka Railway Station. Both pipelines were installed inside bored enveloper pipes.

The site was congested with existing services, and there was very little room for the new pipelines. Both horizontal and vertical alignments of the pipelines were very constrained, making design detailing to meet client and SEQ D&C Water and Sewer Code requirements very challenging.

The project demonstrated Crucible's capability in trunk water main and gravity sewer design in a challenging site, bored enveloper design, construction support and completed works certification, and collaborative integration of the requirements of the direct client with those of the utility service provider.

Congested Site Constraints

The site was heavily congested with existing services, leaving very little room for new pipelines. Both horizontal and vertical alignments were extremely constrained throughout the design.

Bored Enveloper Installation

Both the MSCL water main and PE gravity sewer were installed inside bored enveloper pipes, requiring specialist design expertise to meet all technical and code requirements.

Multi-Stakeholder Coordination

The project required collaborative integration of the direct client's requirements with those of the utility service provider, ensuring compliance with SEQ D&C Water and Sewer Code throughout.
