THARGOMINDAH STP UPGRADE
Planning and concept design for sewage treatment plant upgrade for the remote township of Thargomindah.
Thargomindah STP Upgrade Study and Concept Design
Crucible in partnership with Brandon Associates was engaged by Bulloo Shire Council to undertake a planning assessment and concept design for the upgrading of the existing sewage treatment facility for the township of Thargomindah.
Crucible undertook a detailed assessment of the key requirements for the treatment plant, determining that a 400 EP capacity replacement plant was needed. Treatment process options were assessed in the context of capacity, effluent quality requirements and operational constraints given the remote location of the township.
Crucible prepared a concept design and specification for the replacement treatment plant. The documentation was used for Council to seek support for a funding application for the project and for tendering of the works.
Remote Location Constraints
The remote location of Thargomindah imposed significant operational constraints on treatment process selection, requiring options that could be reliably operated and maintained with limited local resources.
Treatment Process Selection
Treatment process options were rigorously assessed against capacity requirements, effluent quality standards, and the practical operational constraints of a remote township environment.
Funding Support Documentation
The concept design and specification documentation was specifically prepared to support Council’s funding application and to enable competitive tendering of the replacement works.
