Project Highlight
Lakeland Irrigation Scheme Detailed Business Case
Client Regional Development Australia / SMEC
Crucible was engaged to undertake a review of the Detailed Business Case reference design for the pipeline network for the proposed irrigation scheme around Lakelands in far north Queensland.
The scheme included 56km of pipeline mainly in the DN1000-DN1800 size range, a pump station and a new dam.
The scheme operated under high static pressure and required an extensive pressure control and pressure relief mitigation. After undertaking the independent review, Crucible provided significant technical input to the finalisation of the reference design, particularly with respect to general risk mitigation for the system and configuration of the pressure management system.
Crucible also provided technical advice to resolve comments raised by the reviewing authority regarding the operational risk profile for the scheme.
