Project Highlight
Graceville Memorial Park Oval 2 Refurbishment and Irrigation System
Client Western Suburbs District Cricket Club
The project works include the installation of irrigation infrastructure, and re-shaping and re-turfing of a cricket field. The field surface had become extensively damaged over preceding years mainly due to a combination of poor surface drainage (caused by an uneven surface), and a lack of irrigation. These issues caused extensive turf die-off caused by water paucity (during dry seasons) and flooding (during wet seasons). This also caused localised ground settlement which exacerbated the drainage issues. The end result was a very uneven playing surface which was quickly becoming unsafe for use as a cricket field.
The refurbishment project included the installation of a new polyreel irrigation system and laser re-grading and re-turfing of the oval surface.
The irrigation system included all elements (tanks, pump stations, pipelines, power supply and irrigation equipment). The ground refurbishment works included design and delivery of the re-graded surface which was achieved using without importing additional material.
Crucible managed all aspects of the project, including the development of the project scope and design, application for (and securing of) funding, procurement, supervision of delivery, commissioning and handover.
